Passive Soil Failure Excel Sheet (1179)

The basic equations for cutting forces apply for each soil type. Just remove the terms that are not valid in a certain type of soil and whats left is the equation for that type of soil.

The equation for dry sand is implemented in an excel sheet where you can change the angles like blade angle, internal and external friction angle.

The sheet shows a table and a graph of the passive earth pressure coefficient Kp as a function of the shear angle and one can see where Kp has a minimum.

In general thats the angle where failure will occur.

On the second page/sheet I put all the relevant equations.
